00:00:07:04 - 00:00:09:13
Greetings from Indiana University Kokomo.
00:00:10:06 - 00:00:12:07
As IUK’s new Chancellor,
00:00:12:07 - 00:00:15:15
I want to thank you for the role that you play in our success.
00:00:15:19 - 00:00:19:14
Whether you were one of our students, a colleague making transformative
00:00:19:14 - 00:00:23:02
learning experiences for these students, or a friend of IU Kokomo,
00:00:24:00 - 00:00:26:13
you're part of something truly special.
00:00:26:13 - 00:00:30:12
As we wrap up 2022 and look ahead to 2023,
00:00:30:20 - 00:00:33:23
we have much to celebrate and to anticipate.
00:00:34:10 - 00:00:39:16
Indiana University Kokomo continues to be a builder of community on and off campus.
00:00:40:04 - 00:00:44:10
We are providing mentoring and wellness programing for local educators.
00:00:45:06 - 00:00:48:13
We continue to offer a platform for the marginalized,
00:00:48:17 - 00:00:53:08
misunderstood, and underrepresented populations around us to help shine
00:00:53:08 - 00:00:56:16
a light on issues that many of us might not normally encounter.
00:00:57:03 - 00:00:59:07
That's the IU Kokomo culture of care.
00:01:00:07 - 00:01:01:00
We're providing a
00:01:01:00 - 00:01:04:09
welcoming and inclusive home for our students, faculty and staff.
00:01:04:23 - 00:01:09:02
A place where we celebrate and share rewarding cultural experiences.
00:01:09:12 - 00:01:13:10
And our faculty, they continue to be recognized for their research
00:01:13:10 - 00:01:17:17
and excellence and teaching, as well as for their work to find common ground
00:01:17:20 - 00:01:20:13
and bring our diverse communities together.
00:01:21:10 - 00:01:23:21
Our students continue to benefit from the KEY.
00:01:24:14 - 00:01:28:00
At the KEY Summer Institute many of them get a head start on their college
00:01:28:00 - 00:01:32:01
experience, networking with their peers and faculty before the first day of class.
00:01:32:15 - 00:01:35:23
Later, they get to see for themselves the world of possibilities
00:01:35:23 - 00:01:39:01
they can unlock with their IU degree through conducting research
00:01:39:06 - 00:01:42:05
and immersing themselves in different cultures and exploring
00:01:42:05 - 00:01:45:19
their disciplines in office settings, natural environments and more.
00:01:46:09 - 00:01:50:03
The Office of Sustainability is enhancing our campus with plantings,
00:01:50:06 - 00:01:54:01
signage for native plants, and even four new beehives.
00:01:54:21 - 00:01:58:17
Athletics continues to develop students of character and excellence.
00:01:59:11 - 00:02:02:08
Cross-country produced two national qualifiers.
00:02:03:01 - 00:02:07:13
The men's basketball team ranked nationally and made the NAIA sweet 16.
00:02:08:02 - 00:02:10:02
My wife, Lisa and I were there to enjoy it.
00:02:10:15 - 00:02:13:20
Our women's volleyball team has built a reputation of dominance,
00:02:13:20 - 00:02:18:05
making its eighth straight NAIA national championship appearance,
00:02:18:12 - 00:02:21:23
and our women's soccer team enjoyed a record-breaking season
00:02:22:03 - 00:02:25:19
and its first NAIA championship appearance.
00:02:26:11 - 00:02:27:07
Last spring,
00:02:27:07 - 00:02:31:06
we celebrated the achievements of nearly 700 graduates at commencement.
00:02:31:13 - 00:02:33:02
Our favorite time of year
00:02:33:02 - 00:02:36:03
and our first commencement with IU president Pamela Whitten.
00:02:37:04 - 00:02:38:08
Finally, I
00:02:38:08 - 00:02:41:21
can't begin to express the gratitude that Lisa and I share
00:02:41:21 - 00:02:45:13
following my installation as IU Kokomo's eighth Chancellor
00:02:46:09 - 00:02:50:16
and our first major initiative, my colleagues and I here at IU Kokomo
00:02:50:16 - 00:02:56:01
set out to improve this campus and our community in 100 ways in 100 days.
00:02:56:06 - 00:02:57:18
And we did it.
00:02:58:05 - 00:02:59:13
But we're just getting started.
00:02:59:13 - 00:03:02:12
One of my top priorities as Chancellor is to take this
00:03:02:12 - 00:03:05:20
already extraordinary campus to even greater heights
00:03:06:07 - 00:03:11:10
to make IU Kokomo a destination campus known around the state and the Midwest
00:03:11:18 - 00:03:15:16
for next-level learning experiences, an extraordinary culture of care,
00:03:16:01 - 00:03:19:00
and an engine for positive change in our community.
00:03:19:19 - 00:03:23:02
We can do it with your continued engagement and support.
00:03:23:13 - 00:03:26:06
On behalf of all of us here at IU Kokomo,
00:03:26:14 - 00:03:30:20
I wish you a wonderful holiday season as well as a new year
00:03:30:20 - 00:03:35:13
in which we all thrive together.
The video comes to an end as a Happy Holidays ornament is on screen and
