“$250 to go to New York with a bunch of my friends and learn new things. That was really cool.”
“My name is Brittany Lucas and I am double majoring in New Media, Art, and Technology and English and I’m graduating in 2022. I went on the KEY to New York with the other NMAT students and Minda Douglas, and we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Gugenheim, so we got to see different styles of art there. Then we went to some of the smaller art galleries in one of the districts in New York, so we got to see a lot of different variaties of art and that was very cool.”
Brittany continues “so this semester I’m taking a core foundations class for NMAT and Anita Garza is a part-time faculty professor, and she’s been really wonderful, and she’s just one of the most amazing women I’ve ever met. Like I was having a rough day, and she just came in and checked on me to make sure I was alright, and she still checks in with me every so often to make sure I’m doing okay. She just genuinely cares about her students in that class and in everything, so.”
“I am happy I came here, I’m very grateful that IUK is an option for me because I get to come here, get my education, have all these opportunities and I’m still close to my home and my family, so that made the transition to college easier. I have all these fun oppurtunities and all these nice faculty members and friends here, so I’m really glad that I came to IU Kokomo,” Brittany says.
