“My name is Haley Porter, I’m class of 2023, and I am studying nursing in hopes to be a flight nurse. In high school, our senior year we have an internship program, and I was in an oncology department, and it was very slow and just wasn’t my thing, and I thought ‘nursing’s not it’ and I got moved to the emergency room and I fell in love with it. You never know what you’re going to get and it’s different every single time, so that’s what I really love with it, I can’t do repetitive stuff so that’s definitely my favorite part of it.”
Haley continues “adjusting from high school to college was a little rough, but I think I started off in the beginning really strong, then I started to go downhill a bit. I was like ‘oh I can skip class I can do whatever I want,’ so then I was like “ah, I really can’t be doing this’ so then I kind of got back on track, so we made it.”
“Well, I learned about IUK because both of my brothers went here, and my brother is getting his master’s here right now, and I have been here multiple times obviously, for my brother, and I really like that a lot of my friends came here from high school and not to mention it’s a smaller campus, and I really like being able to talk to my professors rather than have me just email them and talk to other people like on a bigger campus so I’m very happy with my choice. I would say it’s the most for your money, I would say, if I could put it in words. I’m getting an IU degree at a very affordable cost. I don’t think I could ask for anything more than that honestly. I have, like, close resources, I have a lot of friends here, so I don’t think there’s much more I could ask for.
