KOKOMO, Ind. — A long-time Indiana University Kokomo employee will serve as its new director of development.
Cathy Clearwaters, who served as assistant director of development for more than six years, began her new position Monday, February 4. As director of development, she leads fundraising efforts on campus.
I look forward to building and strengthening the relationships we have in the community,” said Clearwaters. “This allows us to provide our students with more scholarships, international travel experiences, and many other benefits. When our students have these opportunities, it not only benefits our campus, but has a positive impact on our region as well.”
Jan Halperin, vice chancellor for university advancement, said Clearwaters is highly capable and more than ready to step into this new role.
I am very pleased to have Cathy join our leadership team,” Halperin said. “IU Kokomo has been leading the IU system in percentage of goal raised thus far in the Bicentennial Campaign: For All. Cathy plays a large role in that effort, and will continue to be successful, with her warmth, knowledge, understanding of people’s passion for education, and deep community connections.”
Clearwaters began her IU Kokomo career in 2005 as an intake specialist in the Office of Admissions and Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. She was a financial aid counselor before being appointed assistant director of development in 2012.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Butler University. Clearwaters and her husband Karl live in Kokomo.
Indiana University Kokomo serves north central Indiana.
