KOKOMO, Ind. – Bumper cars, bears to build, a bungee trampoline, and a barbecue will welcome Indiana University Kokomo students back to campus for the fall 2019 semester.
Kate Aguilar, coordinator of student life and campus diversity, encouraged students — especially those new to campus — to participate in as many of the free events as possible.
“We’re excited to have our new and returning students back on campus, and we hope they have fun with what we have planned,” she said. “Welcome Week gives them the chance to make new friends and see how great IU Kokomo is. We want everyone to feel that we care about them, and their success here.”
Welcome Week activities are open to all students, and continue while supplies last.
Begin the new semester with a bang Monday, August 26, with bumper cars from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Alumni Hall, and free pizza at 11 a.m.
Make a new friend Tuesday, August 27, with the ever-popular Bears to Build, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Lower Alumni Hall.
Find your place on campus at the annual Activities Fair, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 28 and 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, August 29 in the Quad. Representatives of campus organizations will be available to share information and answer questions, and sign up new members. Get messy by tie-dying a free IUKLife T-shirt, and enjoy free pizza during the event.
Gather up friends, old and new, for a picture in the photo booth from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday, August 29, in Lower Alumni Hall. After you say cheese, get your climb on in front of the East Building, which will have a rock wall and bungee trampoline from 2 to 6 p.m.
Welcome Week wraps up with the annual campus barbecue, from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday in the Quad.
There are lots of activities — both fun and educational — planned throughout the semester. Students should check campus email, IUKLife, and social media regularly for reminders and updates.
