KOKOMO, Ind. — Indiana University Kokomo’s Student Activities and Events Center is one step closer to reality, as the IU Board of Trustees approved an architectural design Friday (October 5).
We are excited for this next big, bold step in our campus’ future,” said Chancellor Susan Sciame-Giesecke. “The Student Activities and Events Center provides a gathering space for our campus and community, as well as a new home for our Cougar athletic events. We look forward to our continued growth, and increased school spirit, as we make more opportunities available to our students.
The 23,500 gross square foot center will serve as the central campus events venue for the Kokomo community and IU Kokomo athletic events, as well as various programs and activities for the campus student community.
The $8.5 million Student Activities and Events Center will be next to the Pavilion, on the south side of the campus. A capital campaign is planned, to raise $3 million of the cost.
A ceremonial groundbreaking is planned in December, with anticipated completion in 2020.
Indiana University Kokomo serves north central Indiana.
