KOKOMO, Ind. — Indiana University Kokomo showcases the work of seniors in the New Media, Art, and Technology program, and the fine arts program, in the annual senior exhibition.

For Arnulfo Zepeda, it is his first-ever gallery exhibition.

“The graphic design work I’m highlighting is just following a passion that I always wanted to accomplish,” said Zepeda, who will graduate with a degree in new media communication this May. “That passion started when I took my first graphic and web design class in high school.”

Zepeda, Logansport, is one of several students whose work is featured in the exhibition, which continues through Friday, May 12

Morgan Collins, a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) student, has been preparing for this exhibition her entire college career.

“This show is very important to me because it is a physical representation of all the hard work and risks I had to take to get here,” said Collins, from Jamestown. “Everything I’ve created up to this point has been in preparation for this exhibition.”

Unlike Zepeda, this exhibition is not Collins’s first time presenting her work.

“I've been involved with multiple student shows on campus since my freshman year, with at least three exhibits in the downtown gallery. This past March, I was accepted into the RAW exhibition and I am getting ready to show five works as an alumna from my high school,” she said.

Zepeda plans a career in graphic design.

“After graduation, I will continue to seek a graphic design career path, but I have a new focus in branding identity, as well as, package design for businesses,” said Zepeda.

In addition to Collins and Zepeda, featured students include Brittany Miller, Greentown; Arlie Smith and Kara Pierce, Kokomo; and Elyse Younger, Fishers.

The exhibit is free and open to the public in the Gallery, in the IU Kokomo Library Building, 2300 S. Washington St. Free parking is available on campus.

The IU Kokomo Art Gallery is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. It is closed Sundays and Fridays.
