KOKOMO, Ind. — The Indiana University Police Department at Kokomo will host a free bicycle safety class for children ages 5 to 9 Saturday, August 5. The class runs from 10 a.m. to noon.
Registration for the free program begins July 3 at the IU Police Department at Kokomo, and continues through July 31 or until the class is full, at 20 participants.
Taught by the department’s certified International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA) officers, the program includes classroom instruction reviewing bicycle safety concerns and safety techniques, proper fit of bicycle, helmet, and safety gear, and riding through an optional bicycle course. Those who want to participate in the course must have a parent present, bring a bicycle, and sign a waiver of liability.
