Claude Rich Excellence in Teaching lecture, 6 p.m., IU Kokomo Kresge Auditorium. Tara Kingsley, associate professor of education and recipient of the 2018 Claude Rich Excellence in Teaching Award, will present What motivates students to learn? It’s more than carrots and sticks.” Free.

Social and Emotional Learning with Scarlett Lewis, 6:30 to 8 p.m., IU Kokomo Havens Auditorium. Scarlett Lewis founded the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Foundation in honor of her son Jesse, who was killed in the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012. Free tickets are available in the Office of Student Life and Campus Diversity, as well as at all branches of the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library.
