School of Education prepared STEM teacher for success

March 24, 2017

KOKOMO, Ind. — Of the roughly 900 students who filter through her STEM classroom, one group engineered battle bots designed to pop their opponents balloons.

Carrie Kelly, BA’09, began teaching general education at Maconaquah Elementary and was recruited to teach STEM because of her so-called geekiness and love for coding, robots, and other tech stuff. She said the new direction was unexpected but her education at Indiana University Kokomo prepared her for the ever-evolving field of education.

Indiana University Kokomo serves north central Indiana.
