Retirees honored for decades of service to students

December 20, 2016

KOKOMO, Ind. — Indiana University Kokomo celebrates the service of two staff members as they retire at the end of 2016.

Chancellor Susan Sciame-Giesecke recognized the years of service of Betty Hillman, welcome center receptionist, and Janine Stanley, technical services assistant, at a reception last month.

“We are so appreciative to Janine, and Betty for their long-term service to our students,” Sciame-Giesecke said. “IU Kokomo is losing two valued team members. We wish them the best in retirement.”

Hillman began her IU Kokomo career in February 2001, and became the full time welcome center receptionist in 2004. She was commended for helping to implement the parking system, and for being the “voice of IU Kokomo” as the switchboard operator.

Stanley began work in the IU Kokomo Library as a serials/acquisitions assistant in August 1984, then became technical services assistant in 2007. She led the effort for the Library to be fully automated in 1998, and is described as “not just a colleague, but a caring friend.”

Indiana University Kokomo serves north central Indiana.
