Martin began her new position Monday, August 24. She invites and encourages alumni to visit her on campus.
“I look forward to serving as a link for all IU Kokomo alumni, in north central Indiana and beyond,” she said. “I want to help our alumni, whether they graduated recently or several years ago, keep the connections they made here, while also forging new ones.”
Jan Halperin, vice chancellor for university advancement, said Martin’s career in higher education prepared her for this leadership position.
“We are thrilled to have Michelle join us, especially because of her two IU Kokomo degrees,” she said. “As an alumna, she truly understands and believes in the IU Kokomo experience. She brings abundant energy, significant skill, a sharp mind, and a great personality to this role.”
Alumni may meet Martin at an open house set for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 1, in the IU Kokomo Art Gallery.
Martin earned both her Bachelor of General Studies and her Master of Public Management degrees at IU Kokomo, and also completed an Associate of Arts in professional communications at Ivy Tech Community College.
She previously served in multiple leadership roles at Ivy Tech’s Kokomo region, including as director of alumni relations and, most recently, as director of the Kokomo Event and Conference Center.
She lives near Russiaville, and has two daughters.
