Bowman, who began his duties Monday, April 9, plans to reach to out to the 10,000-plus graduates and get them involved and engaged with the campus and current students.
"We gain so much from our college experiences, beyond earning our degrees," Bowman said, who will also work with the IU Kokomo Alumni Association. "Being involved with the alumni association is a great way to network with other graduates and to give back to the campus that gave us so much.
"We offer opportunities for networking and socializing with other alumni, as well as ways to support the campus."
Chancellor Michael Harris said reaching out to alumni is essential to continued growth and success at IU Kokomo.
"Our alumni are important to us, and Ryan will remind them that graduation is not an ending, but the beginning of a new relationship with IU Kokomo," Harris said. "He will help us build those friendships and the support we need to continue our tradition of academic excellence and student success."
Penny Lee, vice chancellor for public affairs and advancement, welcomed Bowman to IU Kokomo, and said he will enhance opportunities available to alumni.
"He has an extensive background building relationships and planning events. Our alumni will enjoy meeting him and attending the events he plans for them," she said.
Bowman, 29, previously was community relations and promotions manager for the Indianapolis Indians. He swam in college, and said he is very excited to plan alumni events around IU Kokomo's sports teams.
"The athletic events provide a perfect focal point for alumni to rally behind and to get them excited about IU Kokomo. I look forward to using these opportunities to engage them with our campus."
He encouraged all IU Kokomo graduates to be involved with the IU Kokomo Alumni Association.
Indiana University Kokomo serves north central Indiana.
