Donna McLean, associate professor of communication arts, said 165 students from the Sixth Grade International School at Central Middle School will present artifacts and research during the school's International Festival. The festival is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"We are thrilled to share our resources with the International School," McLean said. "This is just one way IU Kokomo partners with our community to help students succeed. We welcome the students and their parents to our campus."
Students researched a country of their choice in teams of four, and will share what they've learned during the International Festival. There will also be entertainment including native flutes, Tibetan bowls, belly dancers, karate demonstrations and dance.
Central humanities teacher Mary Page said IU Kokomo has been generous with its resources this first school year for Kokomo-Center's International Schools
"IU Kokomo has 40 professors from countries other than the United States. The kids have enjoyed talking to them about their cultures and customs, and their travels. We appreciate the time they've given to share the kind of knowledge our students never could have learned from a book."
Indiana University Kokomo serves north central Indiana.
