Support the community and Cougars basketball by bringing at least two canned good items and get in free at Tuesday night’s game.
There will be no charge to the Indiana University Kokomo men’s basketball game on December 6 at Western High School, at 7 p.m., for anyone who brings two non-perishable items for a local food bank.
“Food has been a concern and a need for our community, especially in our schools,” said Marilyn Skinner, director at IU Kokomo’s Center for Early Childhood Education. “I hope people will help those in need, especially during this time of year.”
Skinner has set a goal of 1,000 cans, which will be donated to Food Finders. Then, Food Finders will distribute to local food pantries such as Kokomo Urban Outreach, Kokomo Rescue Mission, and local churches, based on need.
Sarah Sarber, dean of students, helped organize the canned food drive.
“We thought having the fundraiser in December would really help the local food pantries prepare for the Christmas season,” Sarber added. “This is a great opportunity to see our Cougars play and give back at the same time.”
The Cougars play Marian University.
