KOKOMO, IN – Ladies and gentleman, it’s time to “take your seats” and watch the Indiana University Kokomo Crescendos put on a performance of a lifetime.
On Friday, December 2, at 7 p.m., the IU Kokomo Crescendos invite the campus and community to attend their winter choral concert. The concert is free of charge and will be performed in Havens Auditorium.
This year, the Crescendos wanted to perform something different, something they have never done before. After a semester’s worth of collaboration, they put together a show titled “Take Your Seat!” featuring nominated and award-winning songs from the Tony, Oscar, and Grammy Awards.
“Putting together this show has been hard work. We really wanted to make it special for IU Kokomo and the community,” said Crescendos President Johnathan Fletcher.
Organizing this show has been a tricky task for the Crescendos. This semester the choir introduced an a capella group, The Diminuendos, which is composed of sixteen students, and they will be performing as well.
Accompanying the choirs will be the IU Kokomo Jazz band and the Drama Club, who will be hosting the concert and performing acting skits between the songs.
“Because we have over sixty members in the group, we were able to put together The Diminuendos, who complement our departments so much,” Fletcher added. “The blend and sound of our choir is breathtaking – I’ve never heard anything like it before.”
Recently, the Crescendos participated in the We Care “Trim-a-Tree” event. They decorated a Christmas tree titled “Santa Loves IU” which was sold for $1600. The money was raised to support the We Care non-profit organization.
Choreographing the concert are Jesse Salinas and Katie Reynolds.
