Roy Tamir joins campus as vice chancellor

April 20, 2011

KOKOMO, Ind. – Indiana University Kokomo Chancellor Michael Harris announces the appointment of Roy Tamir as the new vice chancellor for administration and finance. Tamir will begin his position on Monday, May 2.

“I am very glad to be joining the IU family and becoming part of the Kokomo community,” Tamir said. “It has been a long-time dream of mine to work with Chancellor Harris and join him in the effort of providing excellent higher education to as many students as possible. I am sure that his leadership will push IU Kokomo and the region far and high, and I look forward to being part of this regional transformation.”

Tamir will be responsible for providing leadership of the day-to-day operation and administration of the campus, including the physical plant, grounds, safety, human resources, budgeting, facilities, contractors and food services. He will oversee campus construction and improvement projects and will be leading, on behalf of IU Kokomo, the Master Planning process.

“I am very pleased Roy has joined our team at IU Kokomo. He brings a broad leadership experience in the private and public sectors, business knowledge, and management skills, as well as the ability to collaborate – a necessity in fulfilling this position,” said Chancellor Michael Harris. “This is especially important during these times where we need to grow our campus and provide excellent education while managing scarce resources.”

He earned his Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) and a bachelor’s in history and Middle East studies from Ben Gurion University, Beer Sheva, Israel.

Indiana University Kokomo serves north central Indiana.
