IU Kokomo Names Dean for School of Business

August 12, 2010

Indiana University Kokomo welcomes Frank Wadsworth, Ph.D., as the new dean of the School of Business.

A former faculty member at IU Southeast for 17 years, Wadsworth brings with him not only an understanding of the importance of regional campuses, but his educational experiences in international business and marketing research and statistics as well.

"One of my goals is to increase international experiences for our business students," Wadsworth said. "But it's also important for us to get out in the local community and see where we can make a difference."

Wadsworth said he would like to build on the school's strategic plan, already in place, that includes increasing visibility and enrollment, enhancing student learning, and growing the intellectual capital of faculty and staff.

He has spent much of this year expanding his own knowledge of international business by traveling to Hanoi, Vietnam, and teaching executive graduate business courses at the Hanoi School of Business. A translator assisted in teaching 38 students there.

In addition, he spent three weeks at De La Salle University in Dasmariñas, Philippines, where he taught a business course to graduate students. In June, he visited Australia for a conference on franchising – one of his major areas of research. He recently submitted a report to the Federal Trade Commission on identifying high-risk and low-risk franchises.

Wadsworth received his Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design from Purdue University in 1980; a Bachelor of Science in Management: Business and Farm from Purdue University in 1986; a Master of Science in Food Marketing from Michigan State University in 1991; a Master of Science in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1991; and a Doctorate in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1995.

Indiana University Kokomo serves a seven county, primary service area in north central Indiana. The campus offers more than 40 academic programs including four graduate degrees.

"Celebrating 10,000 graduates with 10,000 Degrees of Excellence!"
